The Vantage Atlas is a very compact 1.5 Tesla MRI system that combines an ultra short bore of only 149 cm with a spacious bore aperture of 65.5 cm. Usually MR examinations are organ specific, which means that coils used to be developed for dedicated examinations. Therefore coil exchange prior to each new examination was common practice reducing the efficiency in workflow. Toshiba addressed this issue through the development of the Atlas coil concept, introduced on this scanner.
The Vantage Atlas is a very compact 1.5 Tesla MRI system that combines an ultra short bore of only 149 cm with a spacious bore aperture of 65.5 cm. Through the use of a magnet that comprises multi windings a very wide scan field of 55 x 55 x 50 cm (X x Y x Z ) with a superb homogeneity is ensured.
In order to improve the disturbances in workflow, caused by frequent coil exchange, Toshiba decided to look into details of the individual coils and separated the anterior from the posterior section of each coil. So the Atlas coil concept comprises of a Spine coil, a Body coil and a split able Head coil. We have build the individual coil segments in such a way that they collect seamless information from the scanned object located at the border of each coil segment. In the Atlas coil concept multiple coils can be connected simultaneously through coil connectors located on the couch top. In this way we can connect up to 128 elements simultaneously. The system will read out the elements that are in the scan FOV only. Through this design the Atlas coils can maintain on the couch for most of the applications, ensuring dramatically improvements in workflow.
The Vantage Atlas comes with the Pianissimo gradient coil enclosure. This means that the coils are mounted in a vacuum chamber and therefore an acoustic noise reduction of over 90% compared with conventional techniques is achieved. This advanced technology greatly enhances patient comfort, improving the clinical performance for high resolution / high SNR whole body applications.
The Vantage Atlas can be equipped with two different gradient versions:

- The Vantage XGV Atlas
